My Personal Training During Quarantine

Picture
I'm sure that for many others including myself this quarantine has been a very deep and intimate time of self reflection. Self-reflection often forces people intuitively to deal with the parts of themselves that they are ashamed and insecure of. However, this can be very powerful for many people as this spark can lead them on the path to making dynamic changes in their lives. It is at our deepest core as humans to grow and evolve with the progression of time. While this may be true internally for everyone, externally many people often find it challenging to obtain these goals especially when it pertains to their physical fitness, claiming to not have the time to achieve their fitness goals. Prior to the coronavirus outbreak many people including myself simply  “did not have the time to work out” or couldn’t work out at the frequency that they would prefer. I believe that this is an excuse we all tell ourselves to make us feel better on the inside for our lack of dedication and commitment to exercising. But hey don’t shoot me people, I’m simply the messenger.  If it makes anyone feel any better, I have made these same excuses as well so don’t feel bad! This is why having a fitness trainer is very important and they play an extremely pivotal role especially in times like this for anyone that has serious fitness goals.

Innately, most of our fitness goals begin with either a longing desire to get in shape or the desire to return to the physical shape that we used to be in. It is the fitness trainer’s job to help transcend our simple goal of getting in shape to designing more specific, structured, and measurable fitness goals for everyone to achieve. There are also many people out there who may be embarrassed to go to the gym because they may fear looking weak in front of others. However this is no longer an issue for those people due to the fact many people are being forced to exercise at home. However this is not as grand of an issue as many would make it seem. You can get a full body calisthenics workout without using dumbbells. Calisthenics are a very underrated workout and they can help to significantly enhance your muscular endurance. A great example of a full body calisthenics workout consists of: push-ups, pull-ups, tricep dips on a chair, lunges, squats, calf raises, a mile and a half run around your neighborhood, various ab exercises that range from P90X to the abundance of free ab workouts on YouTube. The beauty about all of these exercises is that they can be done from the comfort of your own home. Another reason a fitness trainer is great is that they give you a stronger sense of accountability that you may not have had working out alone. Even having a trainer via a Zoom or Facebook Live workout session would be beneficial because you’re not technically alone you can still receive training, which is what makes the internet such an amazing resource. There are even amazing apps out there such as StartLiveFit app to track your progress and help motivate you along the journey. Even the most driven, determined, and motivated individual gets fatigued and tired eventually, especially when it comes to intense physical fitness let alone anything in life. But it is the strength who give maximum effort at all times and maintain consistency in the pursuit of their goals. This is where your trainer comes in and motivates you to keep going no matter how badly you want to give up. Especially if you’re a slacker like myself who often takes one too many breaks sometimes. Which is even more easier to do at home than in the gym, believe me. We truly are more powerful than we think we are, and therefore this also makes us our biggest obstacle standing in the way of achieving our goals. We ultimately have the free will to let ourselves be great or to hold ourselves back. Now go out there, be great and accomplish your fitness goals!
